Best Budget Air Fryer in 2026

Buy the Ninja Air Fryer Pro when it’s around $89; it’s the cheap air fryer reviewers rank first. Need 6 quarts on a narrow counter? The Instant Vortex Slim. Cooking for one? The Instant Vortex Mini.

Here’s the good news about cheap air fryers: past a certain point, more money buys features, not better fries. Tom’s Guide’s tester, seven years into reviewing them, says the vast majority perform broadly the same. His warning is about the very bottom of the market, where models under about $50 tend to run short on power.

That’s the line this list is drawn around. Every pick below has enough wattage for its size, a dishwasher-safe basket, and a track record in at least one independent review.

The quick version

The 5 best budget air fryers

Best budget air fryer

Ninja Air Fryer Pro 4-in-1, 5-Quart Model AF141

Full-size performance at a cheap-fryer price whenever it’s on sale.

At its frequent sale price of about $89 (list is $129), this is the cheapest way into the air fryer that Tom’s Guide and Homes & Gardens both rank as their overall favorite. Nothing about it feels like a compromise in daily use: 1,750 watts, a 5-quart basket that’s wide rather than deep, and dishwasher-safe parts.

Where the savings show: a 400°F ceiling, four functions instead of nine, and a one-year warranty. None of that affects fries, wings or reheated pizza. If it’s sitting at full price, compare it with the Cosori TurboBlaze, which often sells for the same money on sale.

What works

  • Shortest full-size body here (10.4 in)
  • 1,750 W at a budget price
  • Wide basket browns evenly
  • Dishwasher-safe parts

What doesn’t

  • 400°F max
  • One-year warranty
  • No window or app

Skip it if it’s at full price that day

Then the Cosori TurboBlaze or the Instant Vortex Slim may be the better buy.

Best budget 6-quart

Instant Vortex Slim 6-Quart Air Fryer Model 140-3100-01

Six quarts in a body just 10.2 inches wide, and Instant’s quietest air fryer.

Most 6-quart fryers are wide boxes. The Vortex Slim goes deep instead: 10.2 inches wide and 17.8 deep, so it slots into a narrow strip of counter. Instant markets it as its quietest air fryer, with Quiet Mark certification, and Tom’s Guide found little to fault in its cooking. The basket holds a 4-pound chicken or a 2-pound bag of fries.

It keeps Instant’s habits: a brief preheat before every cook, a 400°F top heat, and no ClearCook window or OdorErase filter (those are on the pricier Vortex Plus). Homes & Gardens called it good, if slightly basic. List prices have ranged from about $112 to $140, and it has been discounted to around $81.

What works

  • Narrow 10.2-inch body
  • Quiet Mark certified
  • Fits a 4-lb chicken
  • Dishwasher-safe nonstick basket

What doesn’t

  • 17.8 inches front to back
  • Preheats every time
  • 400°F max

Skip it if your counter is shallow

At 17.8 inches deep it can overhang a narrow counter. The Ninja Air Fryer Pro is about 3 inches shallower.

Best budget for two

Cosori Lite 4-Quart Smart Air Fryer Model CAF-LI401S

A smart, compact fryer for under $100 with a warranty twice as long as most.

If you cook for two, there’s no reason to pay for 6 quarts. The Lite’s 4-quart basket covers dinner for a couple, it reaches 450°F, and it usually sells for about $95 to $100. TechRadar ranks it the best small air fryer it has tested.

Extras you rarely see at this price: Wi-Fi control through the VeSync app, voice assistant support and a 2-year limited warranty. The trade-offs are a 60-minute timer and a basket about 7.9 inches square.

What works

  • 450°F and 1,500 W
  • App and voice control
  • 2-year limited warranty
  • Compact, 10.8 inches wide

What doesn’t

  • Timer stops at 60 minutes
  • Too small for four
  • Few presets

Skip it if you never use apps and want the lowest price

Instant Vortex Mini 2-Quart Air Fryer Model 140-3013-01 (aqua; other colors differ)

A 2-quart fryer for one person that costs about $60 and runs quieter than most.

Engadget names the Vortex Mini its best budget air fryer, and TechRadar calls it the best budget small one. Both reach for the same point: it’s very simple to use. Four functions, a touchscreen and 1,300 watts in a box roughly the size of a sheet of letter paper (9 by 11.3 inches). TechRadar also found it one of the quietest fryers it has tested.

Two quarts is about four cups of fries or a quarter chicken, according to Instant: a solo dinner or a side for two. Instant’s Dutch store even suggests trimming package cooking times by 15 to 20 percent because it runs hot for its size, which is worth knowing before your first batch of nuggets.

What works

  • About $60, often less
  • Very quiet (TechRadar)
  • Tiny footprint
  • Four colors

What doesn’t

  • 2 qt is one person’s worth
  • 400°F max
  • 60-minute timer

Smallest footprint

Dash Tasti-Crisp 2.6-Quart Air Fryer Model DCAF260 (ceramic version: DCAF26CM)

A 1,000-watt, 2.6-quart fryer that Consumer Reports recommends, with a ceramic version for Teflon-avoiders.

Consumer Reports measured this little Dash at 2.4 quarts of usable space, in an overall size under a cubic foot, and still rated it among the best small air fryers it has tested, with a CR Recommended badge. It runs on 1,000 watts, the gentlest draw on this page.

Prefer to avoid PTFE nonstick? CR points to the Dash Tasti-Crisp Ceramic (model DCAF26CM). Expect the basics: simple controls and a one-year warranty, which CR calls typical. Treat it as a fries-and-reheat helper rather than a dinner maker.

What works

  • CR Recommended
  • Under a cubic foot overall
  • 1,000 W for shared circuits
  • Ceramic version available

What doesn’t

  • 2.4 qt measured

When do air fryers go on sale?

The same handful of models get discounted again and again. Tom’s Guide’s deal roundups have shown the Ninja Air Fryer Pro and the Cosori TurboBlaze both dropping to about $89 during Amazon sale events such as the Big Spring Sale and Prime Day, and the Instant Vortex Slim falling to $81 in an early Black Friday roundup.

This year Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30. If a model here is already near those prices, waiting rarely pays. If it isn’t, a price-tracker alert is the low-effort way to catch the next dip.

How to buy cheap without buying twice

Check the watts against the size

At the low end, power is what separates crisp from soggy. A 2-quart fryer is fine at 1,000 to 1,300 watts; a 5 or 6-quart one should have 1,500 or more. Every pick here clears that bar.

Make sure the basket goes in the dishwasher

A fryer you dread cleaning ends up in a cupboard. All the full-size picks here list dishwasher-safe baskets or trays.

Compare warranties

Consumer Reports says one year is typical. Cosori’s 2-year coverage on the Lite is the standout at this price.

Read the timer limit

Several budget models stop at 60 minutes. That’s fine for almost everything except long dehydrating sessions.

Skip the preset count

More buttons don’t mean better food; presets are shortcuts to a time and temperature. Spend the money on size or a longer warranty instead.

Are pricier air fryers actually better?

Project Farm runs side-by-side tests on several air fryers. Watch it before deciding whether a more expensive model is worth it to you.

More worth watching:

Budget questions, answered

What is the best cheap air fryer?

The Ninja Air Fryer Pro 4-in-1 (AF141) whenever it’s around $89. It’s the overall favorite at Tom’s Guide and Homes & Gardens. For one person on the tightest budget, the Instant Vortex Mini at about $60.

How much does a good air fryer cost?

About $60 to $100 buys full-size performance: 4 to 6 quarts and 1,500 to 1,750 watts. Spending $100 to $200 adds windows, odor filters or glass; $200 and up buys two baskets, thermometers or a full countertop oven.

Are cheap air fryers worth it?

Yes, above roughly $50. Tom’s Guide’s tester finds most air fryers perform broadly the same, but models below about $50 tend to lack power.

When do air fryers go on sale?

Around Amazon’s big sale events and the holidays. In 2026, Black Friday is November 27 and Cyber Monday is November 30. Popular models such as the Ninja Air Fryer Pro and Cosori TurboBlaze have repeatedly dropped to about $89.

Is a 2-quart air fryer big enough?

For one person, yes. Instant says its 2-quart Vortex Mini fits about four cups of fries or a quarter chicken. For two people, 4 quarts is the comfortable minimum.

Which budget air fryer has the longest warranty?

Among these picks, the Cosori Lite 4-Qt, with a 2-year limited warranty. Most others carry one year.

Do cheap air fryers use nonstick coatings?

Most do, usually PTFE. If you want to avoid it on a budget, Consumer Reports points to the Dash Tasti-Crisp Ceramic. Pricier options include ceramic-coated baskets and the glass Ninja Crispi.

My take

Spend about $90 and you get an air fryer that cooks like the expensive ones. The Ninja Air Fryer Pro is that fryer for most people; the Vortex Slim and Cosori Lite cover narrow counters and couples.

Hi, I’m Dana Keller, and I run The Best Air Fryer by myself — no team behind a curtain, and nobody paying to be called “best.” I’m a home cook, not a test lab, so I lean on the people who are labs: America’s Test Kitchen, RTINGS, Consumer Reports, Tom’s Guide and a handful of others. Add in the manufacturers’ own spec sheets and a small mountain of owner reviews, and that’s how these picks get made. Anywhere a claim isn’t my own, I link to whoever said it first.
