Air Fryer Brands, Ranked by What They Do Best

No single brand wins everything. Cosori and Ninja make the best everyday basket fryers, Instant makes the easiest to use, Philips the most refined, and Breville and Cuisinart the best air fryer ovens.

Is there a best air fryer brand? Not really, and that’s useful to know. Tom’s Guide’s long-time tester says nearly all air fryers perform broadly the same. The real differences are shape, extras, warranty and price. So instead of crowning one brand, this page says what each is good at and which single model to buy.

Which brand fits you?

Brand by brand

Ninja Best at: power and choice

Ninja’s air fryer line is the broadest in these guides: single baskets, DualZone two-drawer models, the glass Crispi, flip-up toaster ovens and full countertop ovens. Tom’s Guide describes Ninja fryers as noisier but more powerful than Instant or Philips alternatives. The model most reviewers end up recommending is also one of Ninja’s plainest, the Air Fryer Pro 4-in-1.

Cosori Best at: value with modern extras

Cosori built its name on well-priced 6-quart baskets and now leads with the TurboBlaze, named best overall by RTINGS and Shop TODAY. Its smart models run on the VeSync app (VeSync is Cosori’s parent company), recent baskets advertise PFAS-free ceramic coatings, and Cosori’s own store lists a 2-year limited warranty on models such as the Lite.

Instant Best at: easy, family-friendly controls

Instant comes from the makers of the Instant Pot, and its Vortex fryers favor clear touch controls plus extras like the ClearCook window and OdorErase filters. America’s Test Kitchen’s winning air fryer is the Instant Vortex Plus 6-Quart. Most Instant fryers run a short preheat and top out at 400°F, which costs a little speed.

Philips Best at: refinement, and inventing the category

Philips introduced the first Airfryer in 2010, launched at the IFA show in Berlin and based on Dutch inventor Fred van der Weij’s design. “Airfryer” is still Philips’ product name, which is why so many people type it as one word. Every Philips basket has a vortex-shaped base to push air around the food, and the brand leans on presets; Tom’s Guide calls Philips one of the pricier brands and says the presets can be overkill if you won’t use them.

The standout right now is the 3000 Series Dual Basket, Tom’s Guide’s favorite dual-zone fryer. Instead of two equal drawers it pairs a large main basket with a smaller one for sides, about 9.5 quarts in total.

Breville Best at: countertop ovens

Breville’s strength is the countertop oven. Its Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is the air fryer toaster oven that Food Network, Forbes Vetted and RTINGS rank first, and Cook’s Illustrated favored its predecessor. Buy Breville when you want to replace the toaster and most wall-oven use, not when you only want crisp fries.

Typhur Best at: wide, fast, premium baskets

Typhur is a newer premium brand. Its Dome models swap the deep drawer for a wide, shallow one with heat from above and below. The Dome 2 is Homes & Gardens’ upgrade pick, fits a 12-inch pizza and adds a self-cleaning cycle for the upper cavity.

Cuisinart Best at: value air fryer ovens

Cuisinart’s air fryer toaster ovens are the value alternative to Breville. The TOA-70 is RTINGS’ top air fryer toaster oven, air fries faster than the Breville in RTINGS’ testing, includes a grill and griddle plate, and carries a 3-year limited warranty, the longest in these guides.

Dash Best at: tiny and cheap

Dash covers the small, colorful, low-price end. Consumer Reports recommends the Tasti-Crisp and suggests its ceramic version (DCAF26CM) for people avoiding Teflon-style coatings. Expect basic controls and a one-year warranty.

How to choose between brands

Pick the model first and the brand second. Within a price band, shape matters more than the logo: a low, wide basket for short cabinets (Ninja Air Fryer Pro), a narrow, deep one for tight counters (Instant Vortex Slim), a wide flat one for batches (Typhur Dome 2). Then use the warranty as a tiebreaker: one year is typical, two or three is a bonus.

Brand names matter most after the sale. Look for replacement baskets and crisper plates sold by the maker, since coatings wear before motors do, and register the product so warranty claims go smoothly.

Brand questions

What is the most reliable air fryer brand?

There’s no free, brand-by-brand reliability data for air fryers that I’d trust, so warranty length is the clearest public signal. Consumer Reports says one year is typical; Cosori offers two years on the Lite, Breville lists two on its oven, and Cuisinart gives three on the TOA-70.

Is Ninja better than Cosori?

They trade wins. Cosori’s TurboBlaze is the best overall pick at RTINGS and Shop TODAY and reaches 450°F; Ninja’s Air Fryer Pro tops Tom’s Guide and Homes & Gardens and is shorter. Choose Ninja for two-drawer models and low cabinets, Cosori for a big basket and a longer warranty on some models.

What is the best Ninja air fryer?

The Air Fryer Pro 4-in-1 (AF141) for most people. For families, the Foodi DZ550 with two drawers and a thermometer. For glass instead of nonstick, the Crispi. For an oven, the Flip SP151 or DT201.

Is a Philips Airfryer worth the extra money?

If you’ll use its presets and like a polished design, yes; the 3000 Series Dual Basket is Tom’s Guide’s favorite dual-zone model. If you just want crisp food, Cosori and Ninja match it for less.

Is it “airfryer” or “air fryer”?

Same appliance. “Airfryer” is the product name Philips has used since it introduced the first one in 2010; “air fryer” is the general term.

Who makes Cosori air fryers?

Cosori belongs to VeSync, which is why its smart models use the VeSync app.

Is Instant the same company as Instant Pot?

Yes. Instant’s Vortex air fryers come from the makers of the Instant Pot, and their warranties are issued by Instant Pot Brands.

My take

Start with the model that fits your kitchen. For most people that’s a Cosori TurboBlaze or a Ninja Air Fryer Pro; the brand matters less than the basket shape and the warranty.

Written by Dana Keller

Hi, I’m Dana Keller, and I run The Best Air Fryer by myself — no team behind a curtain, and nobody paying to be called “best.” I’m a home cook, not a test lab, so I lean on the people who are labs: America’s Test Kitchen, RTINGS, Consumer Reports, Tom’s Guide and a handful of others. Add in the manufacturers’ own spec sheets and a small mountain of owner reviews, and that’s how these picks get made. Anywhere a claim isn’t my own, I link to whoever said it first.
